Brief CV

Sara Vecchio graduated in Physics in 2004 cum laude, got PhD in Applied Physics in 2008 and the Master "Basi fisiche e tecnologiche dell'adroterapia e della radioterapia di precisione" during the same year.

After the master thesis in astroparticle physics, in 2005 she oriented her interests to medical physics, specifically in the field of emission tomography (PET and SPECT). From 2005 to 2006 she was involved in a MIUR (Italian Minister for University and Research) project for development of novel techniques for breast cancer imaging. Since 2006 she partecipated to INFN and MIUR projects, which both aimed to develope a PET system to image hadrontherapy-induced patient activation. In 2008, she concluded the master apprenticeship with an experience with hadrontherapy at INFN-LNS (CATANA project) and with intensity modulated radiotherapy at the ?Azienda Ospedaliero Universitaria Careggi? working on treatment planning, and quality control protocols. During the same year she was a consultant of the University of Pisa for the realization of GEANT4 simulation of protons interaction with pixilated silicon detectors and she was involved in a pre-clinical project at "Istituto di Fisiologia Clinica" of the CNR-Pisa division, where she experienced the small-animal imaging with several PET radiotracer, and multi-modality imaging tecniques. For the first semester of 2008/2009 she was also lecturer assistant of ?Esperimentazioni di Fisica IA? for Physics degree at the Science faculty of the University of Pisa. In 2009 has been granted a scholarship at the ?Università di Bologna? aimed at the development of digital breast tomosynthesis system in cooperation with a local industry.

She is author of 8 scientific papers on international peer reviewed journals and of numerous papers published on international conference proceedings.
